Puppy School, Bellarine
Our Puppy School in Leopold offers 4-week training courses which you may start when your puppy is between 8 and 14 weeks of age.
Lessons are provided on an individual basis.
Socialisation is provided if the time of your lesson is back to back with another suitable dog and you are also welcome to join our beach walks.
You will teach your puppy to
- Come when he/she is called
- Behave well with people & other dogs
- Sit, stand & lie down on signal
- Stay in the above positions
- Walk beside you on a loose lead and off lead
- Fetch & give up a toy
Other exercises, if time permits, may include remaining calm in the presence of distractions like joggers and bikes, waiting politely for their meals, being tied up without making a fuss.
Course details and further information
In order to participate in puppy school your puppy must have commenced his/her immunisation program and received his/her temporary inoculations against distemper, hepatitis and parvovirus.
Your lessons will be held in Leopold, at 45 Bawtree Rd, adjacent to the Bellarine rail trail. Melway reference 469 B1.
Puppy courses are available on Mondays and Tuesdays during the day or the evening, and occasionally on Saturdays during the day. The 4 lesson puppy course costs $120. One of our training books is included in this fee.
The first lesson will run for approximately 60 minutes for discussion of any problems you may be having, and Ruth will explain how your puppy learns and how to communicate with your puppy in a way which makes it easy for you both to learn.
The following three sessions will involve 10 minutes of puppy play and socialisation with another puppy (if available and suitable) and will be followed by a 30 minute individual lesson.
